Back to when I was a novice Yoga teacher in my own studio, I wanted everyone to like Yoga, and I felt very pushed to modify the format of my class to accommodate a few very vocal students about what they wanted. Even though I risked losing these students, I held my ground and maintained the level and format which is why everyone else had come to the class in the first place.
Some left, most didn't and the class was as I wanted it to be. At one time I asked a student to leave a Gentle class that I taught at a gym because she was flipping around with her own advanced asanas that were unsafe and wouldn't follow my class directions. So when a 20 something took Gentle a few weeks ago and said it was good, calming and spiritual..... EXCEPT I needed to throw in some Vinyasa to make it great, I just smiled and suggested she take a flow class from the many classes offered at SY.
